If you pop over to our Gallery page, you can see a few new photos from this year's festival. If you have any photos or videos of the day, we'd love to see them. Email Jules if you've got something you'd like to share.
Above is a snap of the Merton Youth Concert Band. They opened the festival, and were amazing.
Below is Smoke, performing Stand By Me...
A big thank you to everyone who came along on Saturday...the final figures are yet to come in, but it was the biggest one yet.
And thank you to all of our amazing acts. Without you there is no festival.
Congratulations to URAH.State, who were John Kennedy's Xposure Hot One last night (04 07 2011).
Over the next few days, we will ber gathering some of the incredible photos and videos taken during the day and posting them up here, so keep your eyes peeled.
Meanwhile, here is a snap of DJ Robin C from Saturday. Pic by Fiona Razvi, the only photographer brave enough to enter his mosh pit.
At last, the time has come. The final preparations are in place. The weather is looking good, and the acts are revving up in readiness for tomorrow's festivities. John Kennedy has been playing lots of our acts on Xfm this week, giving them fantastic exposure (see the next story to listen again).
All our performers are under 22 years of age, making this festival unique. It's only £1 to get in, so we'll see you down there. Bring a picnic! Here are some directions to the park.
Don't forget to get there early - Cherry Pie Music School are running a showcase of their students that begins at 12.15pm. At 1pm, the Merton Youth Concert Band will be wowing the crowd with some modern classics.
Then our acts kick off at 2.10pm, going right through till 8pm. See our Festival page if you'd like to have a listen to them beforehand.
Only a week to go now until South Park Gardens Music Festival 2011, and the final preparations are underway.
The stage is organised, the bands are raring to go, and the sun is scheduled to be blazing. We are expecting a big turnout this weekend. There will be lots for everyone to do...drum workshops, craft and cake stalls, face painting, bouncy castle...oh, and lots and lots of great music.
All of the 100+ performers are under 22 years of age, all from the Merton area and all are bursting with talent.
Entry is £1, and there will also be a CD of some of our acts available to buy on the day. Bring some sunscreen!
South Park Gardens Music Festival was featured on John Kennedy's Xfm Xposure show on Wednesday 29th June, when he played three of our acts - DJ Robin C, URAH.State and Legumes. On Thursday, 30th June, he gave URAH.State another spin and also gave an airing to Malory Torr's 'Milk and Cookies'. You can listen again in the little Soundcloud link below.
Here is John talking about the making of his Xfm radio show earlier this month.
We are very excited to announce that the Merton Youth Concert Band - an orchestra of 70 young musicians from Merton Music Foundation - will open this year's festival with an hour-long performance. They will be conducted by the very lovely Norma Whitson.
I don't know about you, but we can't think of a more bombastic opening!
We are very pleased to announce this year's line up for South Park Gardens Music Festival!
We had more applications than ever before, so thanks to everyone for sending us their music. We're sorry we couldn't fit everyone in.
We have some amazing acts lined up for you this year. Head over to our new Festival page to see the full schedule.
Have your say in the box below...
Meanwhile, congratulations to 2010 performer Malory Torr, who is through to the finals of Live and Unsigned UK 2011. Above is a video of her storming the heats.
Her sister, Taylor Torr, is now making music videos, and is looking for acts to direct. If you think you've got something worth putting on screen, then check out her work here. If you'd like to get in touch with her, send us an email.
Here
are some of the performers from last year's festival. This might give you some idea of what we're looking for.
If you would like to get involved in the festival in other ways, such as volunteering on the day, or by becoming a sponsor, please email us.
